Not all replacement bottoms are the same.  We disassemble the bottom frames, keel, chines, gripe, and stem to check for any wood deterioration. All wood is cleaned or replaced, then sealed with Smith's CPES.  All wood is then reassembled and bedded in 3M 5200 using new fasterners.  New Marine BS 1088 certified plywood is used for the inner liner and new mahogany is used for the planks.

In the cold molded process, 3mm and 4mm BS 1088 certified Marine Plywood is used to form the new bottom shells.  The shells will have three to five layers of plywood laminated together to form an incredibly strong, seamless bottom.  The numbers of layers is determined by the thickness of the original bottom.  After the old bottom is removed, all structural components are inspected, treated with CPES after cleaning, reassembled and bedded in 3M 5200 with new fasteners.  The new cold molded shells are then bedded in 3M 5200 along the keel, chines, and frames, then attached with new fasteners.  The bottom is then sealed, primed, and painted.
