Description

1958 Herter’s Flying Fish – Salmon Pink & Black color combination with original trailer and motor, everything is in great un-restored condition. My dad purchased this boat, motor and trailer new in 1960 - it’s been in our family ever since & was known as the “Bat Boat” on our lake. It’s a classic piece of American boating history with unique 1950’s era features like fins, tail lights, heavy cast aluminum trim pieces and chrome accents. It comes with the original Oar, Flags, Anchor/rope, Skis, Ski rope, Ski vest and Life Jackets(4-Adult). We always kept it in the garage or boat house, never outside, washed and waxed the boat & motor every season. Everything was meticulously maintained and very well cared for. There are no major nicks or scuffs in the hull- front, bottom or back, no oxidation on the metal parts and the chrome still shines pretty in the sun. The electrical connections are solid without corrosion. Life jackets are very clean with no mold or holes. Seat cushions are in great shape with one very small repair and no soft or loose spots on wooden backs. There are no dents on gas tanks or rust inside. There is no sign of battery corrosion or spillage. The motor was winterized - cylinders oiled, lower unit oil changed, and stored in a warm/dry basement in off-seasons. It has good compression, electric start, always started easy and pulled a skier with no problem. The trailer is made by TeeNee, with full rollers and a tilting section for easy loading/unloading. Tire tread is excellent, no cracks on sidewalls and the wheel bearings are packed with grease. I have the original owner’s manual for the 1960 Johnson Super-Seahorse 40, the Johnson ship Master remote control, purchase receipts for the motor and trailer, and a Herter's 1958 Catalog featuring the Flying Fish. It’s a beautiful survivor in great shape for its age… a very rare find.
